Manchester United are welcoming Nottingham Forest back to Old Trafford in the Premier League for the first time in 20 years as Erik ten Hag looks to gain an advantage on Tottenham Hotspur.

As a top four rival, Tottenham drew 2-2 against Brentford on Monday afternoon, meaning that United are now four points behind them with two games in hand – and a win against Forest would put further pressure on Antonio Conte’s men.

Manchester United currently sit 5th in the table on 26 points, just a point above Liverpool who sit in sixth, having defeated Aston Villa 3-1 on Tuesday evening.

Erik ten Hag, speaking to the media last Wednesday ahead of the fixture, had a lot of praise to give Marcus Rashford, the club’s current top scorer this season.

“I don’t want to pin myself on a number, but I said from the start, I think he is capable to score 20 goals in the Premier League only so I am convinced about that,” said Ten Hag.

“He now has four but he has scored many other goals. He scored three goals at the World Cup and you also have the potential to score those numbers of goals in the Premier League.”

Speaking more generally on the 2-0 win over Burnley, the Dutchman said: “I am really happy with the attacking performance that we created seven or eight 100-percent-chances, but is clear we have to score more.

“There are two things. One, a striker could come from our own club, see Garnacho, see Elanga, see Pellestri who made a good impression at the World Cup and also last week in the (behind closed doors) game against Everton. So that is first.

Manchester United are once again lining up at Old Trafford, with striker Anthony Martial coming in from the start to accompany Rashford on the front line.
