“A matter of time…” – Coach sends Man United transfer hint with new timescale revealed
One coach has told Manchester United fans that it is “a matter of time” before a much-anticipated transfer goes through.
Manchester United reached an agreement earlier this summer to sign Arsenal starlet Chido Obi-Martin on an initial scholarship deal.
Obi-Martin was considered the top academy prospect at The Emirates, having scored 32 goals for their Under-18s last season.
However, he opted not to sign a scholarship contract with the London club and began exploring other opportunities, including a visit to United’s Carrington training facilities.
Multiple reports confirmed that he agreed to join United in late July, with the potential for first-team football playing a crucial role in his decision. Fabrizio Romano also reported that the young forward turned down higher salary offers from Bundesliga clubs to join the Reds.
Obi-Martin has shared individual training clips on his social media over recent weeks, and while a deal has not yet been confirmed, various journalists have clarified that there are no concerns surrounding the move.
In fact, a report from the Manchester World has explained that a source close to the deal says they are ‘not expecting any issues’ and that it usually takes roughly six weeks for youth transfers between two Category One clubs to be processed.
This would mean Obi Martin could join up with the Reds in mid-September and start proving his quality in the youth sides with the aim to impress Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff.
Speaking about the 16-year-old starlet, Denmark’s under-18s head coach Morten Eskesen has assured United supporters that his move is “only a matter of time.”
“I spoke to him last week and asked him if he was fit for the fight and injury-free. He was, and he is in between jobs,” Eskesen told Tipsbladet.
“Right now, he doesn’t have a club, but it’s only a matter of time. After all, a lot happens in the transfer window. We know what he stands for.”
