Club ready to take advantage of rule change to sign Casemiro from Manchester United this summer

Casemiro is already attracting interest from clubs across the globe following the confirmation of his Manchester United departure this summer.

Manchester United have enjoyed a resurgence under Michael Carrick. The club have won three games in a row in the Premier League and now sits in fourth, only five points off of Aston Villa in third.

One player who has been instrumental in the midfield this season, but more so under Carrick, has been Casemiro, who has recently confirmed he will be leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract in the summer.

In the games against Manchester City and Arsenal, he showed the very best of his defensive and leadership abilities as he struck up a partnership with Kobbie Mainoo at the base of the midfield.

Against Fulham, he demonstrated his very best in an attacking sense with a goal and a no-look skill assist for Matheus Cunha.

LA Galaxy eye up Casemiro

LA Galaxy has seemingly become a popular place for former Manchester United players in the MLS. The likes of David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Javier Hernandez have all represented the American outfit.

Both Beckham and Ibrahimović were registered as designated players, a rule created in 2007 that allows MLS clubs to pay above the salary cap for three players.

According to the Daily Mail, LA Galaxy are eying up Casemiro for a potential move that would make the Brazilian a designated player and the fourth former United player to play for the club.

However, they also report that his high wages could be a potential issue, and it remains to be seen whether they can offer what Casemiro would desire. This would not be an issue for Saudi clubs, who Casemiro recently rejected last summer.

Two midfielders needed for United

Replacing Casemiro is arguably going to be one of the toughest challenges for INEOS, not only with his vast experience on the pitch, but also with his leadership qualities and the pitch time he gives to the younger players.

The recruitment team cannot afford to sign a young hot prospect and hope they can fill the gap, as the pressure may be too much.

This is why signing one off, if not both of Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson become critical. Both players have shown they can perform excellently in the Premier League. They both also possess the all-round package of technical ability and off-the-ball brilliance that Casemiro has displayed at United.

Should United only bring one of the two in, then signing another like Joao Gomes, who may not be at their level but knows the league, is also vital in terms of providing quality squad depth, something United have lacked for years since Sir Alex Ferguson left.
