Erik ten Hag has been slammed for two recent Manchester United signings by one club legend.

Manchester United suffered a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon in another disappointing performance from Erik ten Hag’s team.

This result comes after a narrow win against Fulham at Old Trafford and a loss to Brighton away.

Doubts continue to linger over Ten Hag and his system, but many remain happy with the summer business conducted during the transfer window.

Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui were signed for reasonable prices – a stark change to some signings during the earlier summer windows under Ten Hag.

In fact, speaking to Optus Sport this week, United legend Peter Schmeichel held no punches when talking about the two signings of Casemiro and Antony for more than £150 million combined.

“It’s probably one of the most disappointing things is we had these opportunities, he’s come in, he’s allowed to spend a lot of money, he’s bringing Casemiro and Antony which changes the whole structure of the club,” Schmeichel said.

“I think part of the reason the sale happened was because they had to finance those two players.

“From that moment on, the club changed, and then you have someone new come, and they had chances to make those changes, those really big statements saying these are our standards, and we will not tolerate any less than this.”

Casemiro has been heavily criticised at United over the last year but had one of his worst games against Liverpool on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Antony is not even trusted to make an impact off the bench. He has played a handful of minutes so far this season.
