“Convincing…” Christian Eriksen addresses Manchester United exit amid European giant loan rumours
Christian Eriksen has addressed his chances of leaving Manchester United this summer amid rumours of a loan move to his former club Ajax.
So far, Christian Eriksen‘s time at Manchester United has been one of relative success marred by injury issues that have led to the Danish international becoming a less important player under Erik ten Hag.
Eriksen’s first six months at Old Trafford saw him form a fantastic trio with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro at the heart of midfield. However, an injury at the end of January 2023 ruled him out for a number of months, and he’s never quite recovered his place.

Following the meteoric rise of Kobbie Mainoo last season, Eriksen has dropped in the club’s pecking order, and recent rumours have seen him linked with a potential loan move to Ajax this summer.
The 2024 European Championships, despite Denmark not winning a fixture, showed that Eriksen does have plenty left in his tank as a creative midfielder, but Fernandes’ importance at United means that he will not get much of a chance to play in that position at Old Trafford.
In a new interview, Eriksen has opened up on his future, explaining that although he is very happy in Manchester, he cannot rule out a move away as he knows he wants to play as much football as he can.
“It depends on what’s coming and what is the going,” Eriksen told Sky Sports when asked what his plans are for the future.
“But like I said before, I think I’m really happy. My family is settled in Manchester. I’m loving my time at United. But obviously, like you said, of course, as a football player, you want to play as much as possible.
“But also in terms of that, it’s also about convincing the manager to let you play. So, in terms of that, I’ll try to do my thing, and then we’ll see where we’re at. But my feeling is that I’m very happy at United.
Continuing, Eriksen further admitted that he wants to play football on the pitch rather than sitting on the bench or “the social guy”, but that he is going to continue to try and help players where he can.
“I still want to get on that pitch,” he said. “Obviously, I’m staying the same person. If I’m playing or not playing, I’ll still be the same. Trying to help people if I can and focus on playing. But I still want to be the football, not only the social guy.”
There are plenty of young talents that a man such as Eriksen can help improve. Eriksen, having been a leader at multiple clubs and his national team, will be able to help players such as Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho during their first few full seasons as first-team players.
