Chris Sutton has made a bold score prediction as Manchester United face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend.

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday with a crucial clash against fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur in North London.

It has been a disappointing league campaign for United, who currently sit 13th in the table. Erik ten Hag was dismissed in October after a poor start to the season, but his successor, Ruben Amorim, has also faced challenges.

Adapting to Amorim’s tactical approach has been difficult for the players, but there have been small signs of progress, with United winning six of their last eight matches across all competitions.

However, further improvement in the league is needed, and a victory against Spurs could provide a major boost for Amorim and his squad.

Tottenham have endured similar struggles, sitting just one place below United in 14th. The pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou has intensified following back-to-back eliminations from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup within a matter of days.

Sutton makes Spurs vs United prediction

Former striker Chris Sutton predicts each and every Premier League fixture but admitted that he has little idea about what is going to happen in this clash.

Both teams are unpredictable but the ex-Blackburn Rovers star has a “sneaky feeling” that United may just edge the game, winning 2-1.

“In regards to Amorim, I just think he needs time,” explained Sutton.

“He arrived in mid-season, he has his way of playing and United will have to give him the players who fit that system, so it might take a window or two before we see him with the team he wants.

“There needs to be patience there, but we also know football fans are impatient. They want to see some improvement in the short-term, and it is hard to argue they have made any progress since Amorim took charge.

“I still have a sneaky feeling they might edge this game but I cannot really tell you what I am basing that on.

“This is a big game for Ange too, now his side are out of both domestic cups, but I am going with United, just.”

Spurs vs United will provide entertainment

It feels like the least this game will provide is entertainment for the neutral – for Spurs or United fans, it may not be guaranteed.

Any game involving Postecoglou’s side seems to just break into chaos and this is probably not going to be much different.

United have to try and build some control in the game and not allow play to become too stretched and end-to-end.

Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled for form, but both players should be looking at the Spurs backline and believing they could make an impact.

Perhaps the one guaranteed starter in this game is Alejandro Garnacho, who deserves to threaten the North London side after some good performances off the bench.
