Champions League club allow star player’s agent to speak to Manchester United after release clause revealed
Manchester United and clubs interested are now authorised to speak to Goncalo Inacio’s agent following news about his release clause.
United finished off the 2023/24 campaign in style with an FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, but their Premier League finish left a lot to be desired.
INEOS are looking to improve the playing squad at Old Trafford and the defensive unit is a priority to strengthen after the departure of Raphaël Varane.
Jarrad Branthwaite has been labelled as the no.1 target for the new United co-owners, however, Sporting Lisbon centre-back Goncalo Inacio has recently emerged as a target.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Inacio is a player that United appreciate and they have sent scouts to watch the Sporting Lisbon defender in recent months.
He further clarified that the Portuguese centre-back has a release clause in the region of £50 million.
Reports elsewhere have stated that United are ‘readying an offer’ for his services but that they ‘won’t pay’ the reported release clause.
Now, the Portuguese newspaper Record, as per MEN, have claimed that Miguel Pinho, the agent of the Sporting Lisbon defender, has been ‘authorised’ by the Portuguese club to ‘speak’ to clubs interested in his client.
Inacio made 49 appearances for the Portuguese outfit last term and has made seven appearances for his country.
