Casemiro to Saudi Arabia: Insider explains truth behind potential transfer for Manchester United midfielder

Reports of a potential exit from Manchester United for Casemiro this month have gone quiet in the last couple of weeks.

Manchester United are looking to make a couple of signings in the January transfer window for Ruben Amorim. An offer has been made for Patrick Dorgu this week.

There are also several players who simply don’t fit Amorim’s style at Old Trafford, one of them being 32-year-old midfielder Casemiro.

The Brazilian international has started just one of the last 10 fixtures for United and only three overall since Amorim took charge.

“He [Casemiro] has to have the characteristics and then I have to choose the player with the characteristics on how I see the game,” the United boss explained.

“It is just like that and I have to make some choices, I want to play a game that is sometimes different from other coaches and I have to chose based on that. That’s all.”

There were various rumours linking him with a potential move to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League earlier this month but that has since gone quiet.

Casemiro to Saudi Pro Leaue truth explained

The latest information from SamC_Reports suggests that the interest remains in Casemiro but it is a deal that the Saudi club are not prioritising.

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo pushing for the move, an alternative target who plays further forward is the preference.

“The Saudi central offer for Casemiro was tabled some weeks ago, however, nothing was agreed or signed, despite the Saudi’s pushing,” he explained.

“Understand that Al-Nassr would prefer to get a playmaker midfielder in, rather than a defensive-minded one (like Casemiro) despite Cristiano Ronaldo pushing.

“One to watch in closing days.”

United will have to wait until summer for Casemiro move

Casemiro will not be happy sitting on the bench all the time and the Reds will not be pleased paying his wages while he isn’t contributing.

But that is the situation we find ourselves in once again. It is clear that Amorim values things that the Brazilian just doesn’t bring to the midfield as much as other options.

It should be a priority this window to get him out and then try to sign a replacement but it is difficult to make things happen in January.

This is looking all the more like a deal that will just have to be parked until the summer transfer window comes around.
