Casemiro says people “don’t realise” the ability of Man United legend
Casemiro has claimed that people “don’t realise” the ability of one Manchester United legend who is still playing.
The United midfielder joined the club from Real Madrid at the start of last season. He enjoyed a successful first campaign at Old Trafford but has found difficulties this term.
Erik ten Hag has defended the midfielder’s form and believes that injuries have played their part in Casemiro’s season so far.
The Brazilian scored in the Carabao Cup final last season, which United went onto win, and played consistently across the campaign.
He was alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, who he spent five years at Real Madrid with, winning four Champions League titles in that time.
Ronaldo rejoined United the summer before Casemiro and had a solid first season back in the Premier League, scoring 18 times.
However, the club legend departed midway through last season after his shocking interview with Piers Morgan was aired.
Now playing in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo stars for Al Nassr and had another impressive year in 2023, scoring 54 goals for club and country.
Casemiro believes that his former Real Madrid and United teammate is not appreciated enough for what he is still doing in the game at 39 years of age.
Speaking to El Chiringuito TV, Casemiro said: “We have enjoyed it, and we don’t realise it, we wouldn’t value much what Cristiano did in football and what he has done.
“Last year, he scored 50 goals, what are you going to say about a player like that?”
