Casemiro has made his transfer intentions obvious to Manchester United, with many Brazilian clubs already making enquiries for the 33-year-old’s signature.
Manchester United’s summer transfer window focused predominantly on revitalising their attacking department, as well as improving their goalkeeping depth.
The Reds offloaded a handful of their attackers, such as Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Rasmus Højlund on permanent deals, as well as Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford on loan deals.
Ruben Amorim kept his midfield the same with no new additions made, despite a long-lasting saga with Brighton for their young star Carlos Baleba.
One of Amorim’s midfielders, Casemiro, has made his transfer intentions for next summer clear to the club. Many Brazilian sides have ‘already made inquiries’ for the 33-year-old.
Casemiro’s transfer intentions
Casemiro has now entered the final year of his United contract, and Fabrizio Romano states, via The Peoples Person, that there will almost certainly be no extension on the horizon, which would make him a free agent next summer.
Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has now revealed via the same source that Flamengo, Palmeiras, and Sao Paulo are all plotting to move in for Casemiro, and he is believed to already have a favoured move.
The report states, “Flamengo and Palmeiras have already made inquiries to understand the situation of the Manchester United midfielder, who is expected to end his stint with the English club after the 2026 World Cup.”
“Flamengo is among the most attentive clubs, as the midfielder fits the profile sought by the football department: leadership, international experience, and decision-making ability in big matches.”
However, the 33-year-old would prefer a move to Sao Paulo, due to his emotional attachment to the side. Casemiro joined Sao Paulo’s youth academy and advanced through their ranks in 2010.
Casemiro exit explains Baleba decision
If Casemiro is to depart next summer, it would explain why the Red Devils are happy to wait until 2026 to secure the services of Baleba. On this topic, Fabrizio Romano said, via UtdDistrict:
“I’m not surprised Man United did not invest in any other midfielders during the summer transfer window. I’m not surprised because I always told you that my feeling is that Man United will keep their interest alive in 2026 for Carlos Baleba.
“I’m sure that he will not be cut off the list for Man United in 2026, they were very happy with the player opening the door for them even without Champions League or European football. Baleba was very open to joining Man United and the club really appreciated that.”
It looks as if a plan could be in place at United to replace their decorated Brazilian with the perfect profile once his contract expires next summer.
