Bundesliga director ‘under pressure’ to secure Manchester United transfer amid ‘frustration’
A Bundesliga club’s director is reportedly ‘under pressure’ to secure a signing from Manchester United following transfer ‘frustration’.
The Reds are preparing to wrap up their final signings for Erik ten Hag’s squad in the coming weeks, having recently brought in Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Following the earlier arrivals of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee this summer, United are now turning their attention to bolstering the midfield and left-back positions. However, additional player sales are necessary to fund further signings.
Manuel Ugarte remains the top target to reinforce the midfield at Old Trafford, while several options are being considered to strengthen the defence.
A potential departure from the club to help make room for these final signings is Victor Lindelöf, who is currently injured.
According to Frankfurter Rundschau, Eintranct Frankfurt’s director of football, Markus Krösche, is ‘under pressure’ to find a centre-back before the window closes.
It was explained that they have a gap in the centre of their defence, and the Bundesliga club are now ‘scrambling’ to find an option after Konstantinos Koulierakis decided to move to Wolfsburg instead.
This development has been said to have ‘heaped pressure on Krösche’s shoulders’ to find an alternative, and that could potentially be Lindelöf.
The report adds that the director is eyeing the United defender, who has been pushed down the pecking order this summer after the arrivals of Yoro and De Ligt.
His current injury could be a potential stumbling block in any move, however, after the defender was spotted using crutches on the weekend.
Lindelöf has been unavailable for United’s first two games of the season against Manchester City and Fulham.
