Bryan Mbeumo’s fresh arrival date revealed as Manchester United expect ‘breakthrough in negotiations’ with Brentford

Manchester United are trying to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer but negotiations have been going on for over a month now.

Manchester United remain in talks over what could become their third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, as negotiations for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo edge closer to a conclusion.

Ruben Amorim is keen to further bolster his attacking options after securing Cunha, although discussions with Brentford over Mbeumo have progressed slowly.

An initial bid of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons for the 25-year-old was rejected in early June, and a recent second proposal worth £55 million and £7.5 million in add-ons was also turned down.

United have been taking their time with the deal as they do not want to bow down to the demands of Brentford, but their pre-season is already underway and he was initially expected to be signed by now.

Mbeumo’s arrival date revealed as United expect ‘breakthrough’

Significant updates regarding the Mbeumo saga have been few and far between in recent weeks. The player is still on holiday in the United States but is set to return to England in the next couple of days.

It has now been reported by the Telegraph that Mbeumo is set to arrive at United in the coming week before the Reds depart for their tour.

United face Leeds in Sweden next Saturday and will then travel to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series shortly afterwards.

The aforementioned report added that there is an expectation that United will have a breakthrough in negotiations with Brentford in the coming days.

The Bees have been looking for £65 million in total with more of the fee being paid upfront, rather in instalments.

United must advance with sales after Mbeumo

Mbeumo has been frustrated with the length of time this move is taking and it is clear that he would not be best-pleased if he was to return to Brentford training next week.

The Bees probably do not want that to happen either. They are a smart club and know that an unhappy player in training is not what you want, especially under a new manager.

For those at Old Trafford, attention must quickly turn to sales after this saga is finished, otherwise Amorim can kiss goodbye to any other potential signings.

Jadon Sancho is reportedly close to Juventus, while Alejandro Garnacho has a couple of options. We must see major developments soon.
