Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha completely agree about ‘brilliant’ Man Utd star, they think he should stay at Old Trafford

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha both have the same opinion about one ‘brilliant’ yet controversial Manchester United star.

Manchester United have secured the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer and both players are expected to improve the team’s attack.

Cunha has already impressed in pre-season fixtures which Mbeumo is waiting to make his first appearance on the pitch for the club.

While they are the two major signings made this summer, there are also expected to be several exits before the window closes.

Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all likely to leave the club in the coming weeks after being left out of Amorim’s pre-season tour squad.

Mbeumo and Cunha completely agree about Antony

Antony has had significant struggles at Old Trafford since he arrived at the club in 2022 but the Brazilian winger managed to have a ‘brilliant’ loan spell at Real Betis in the back-end of last season.

The 25-year-old winger has worked with Cunha at international level and the ex-Wolves player believes that Antony could succeed under Amorim.

In fact, fellow new signing Mbeumo and several other United players reportedly feel the same way about Antony even though he remains likely to leave.

“Actually, there’s even a feeling from Cunha, from Mbeumo and from other senior Manchester United players that Antony is a good fit in this system,” Ben Jacobs revealed on the United Stand.

“Even though the expectation is still that the player wants to drive a move away.”

Cunha named Antony as his favourite-ever Brazilian to play for United and it is clear that he would like to play with him at United.

If he was to end up staying, it seems like the wingback role would suit Antony the most, although that simply seems unlikely at this point.

Cunha being tested upfront in training

Interestingly, Jacobs also noted during that interview that Cunha has been playing centrally during training sessions in Chicago.

“What’s interesting I’m told is that in training Cunha has actually been pushed and used as a number nine,” the reporter continued.

While the Reds are clearly trying to sign a new striker, with Benjamin Sesko top of the list, Cunha’s versatility could prove useful over the course of a season.

With two pre-season games remaining, Amorim may consider testing his new signing through the middle before the season opener against Arsenal.
