Bruno Fernandes issues statement following double Manchester United red cards
Bruno Fernandes has issued a statement following his two red cards in two Manchester United appearances under Erik ten Hag.
Bruno Fernandes has seen back-to-back red cards handed to him in recent days coupled with some of the darkest times Manchester United fans have seen under Erik ten Hag.
Last weekend, Fernandes was sent off during a tense clash with Tottenham Hotspur shortly before the half-time whistle after slipping and fouling James Maddison, and Ange Postecoglu’s side quickly capitalised, winning the tie 3-0.

Although the Premier League then confirmed that Fernandes’ red should not have been awarded, and he was relinquished from his three-game ban, but in the Europa League, he then earned himself another.
Two high-boot challenges against Porto saw the United captain receive two yellow cards, and he will miss the team’s next tie, away from home against Fenerbahce.
After the Porto loss, Fernandes has now issued a statement on his Instagram, where he has admitted that this is one of the hardest points of his career.
“Tough moment as a team and personally for me, one of the hardest. Almost 5 years at the club with ups and downs, good and bad moments.
“Personally, I have always had challenges and adversities throughout my career and something that’s never happened was that I go silent or hide myself from responsibilities in difficult moments.
“I know it sounds cliche and most of you United fans will be tired of it, but no one is more disappointed than myself with my own moment.
“Even through this moment, I appreciate all of you that had positive messages of belief in me and the team.”
Fernandes will no doubt be in the Untied side that faces Aston Villa on Sunday evening as Ten Hag fights to save his job.
