Bruno Fernandes rubbishes “tired” claim after fantastic Portugal performance
Bruno Fernandes has rubbished the idea that he feels tired after a brilliant performance for Portugal against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the 2022/23 season, Bruno Fernandes has featured 69 times for both Manchester United and Portugal, leading the way in total minutes played for players across Europe’s top five leagues.
Fernandes has played around 5,900 minutes across all competitions for club and country this season, which is 4,500 minutes ahead of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, who ranks second in the metric.

Fernandes was pivotal in the success of Erik ten Hag’s first campaign as manager and was once again the main man as he scored two and assisted one during Portgual’s 3-0 thumping of Bosnia and Herzegovina during their EURO 2024 qualifying fixture.
“I was fresh, now less fresh, but I will recover. Later I’ll have my rest, but I always want to play and give my best. I don’t want to think about being tired,” Fernandes told Sport TV.
“It was a great win, these are difficult games and we have to make them easy, as we did,” he continued.
“I’m pleased to have scored, but the most important thing was getting the three points. We want to be in the European Championship.”
Manchester United will start their pre-season training in under four weeks, kicking off against Leeds in Oslo on 12 July.
