“It’s obvious…” – Bruno Fernandes situation explained after Bayern Munich approach Man United star
Bruno Fernandes’ current situation has been described as ‘obvious’ after Bayern Munich approached the Manchester United star.
Fernandes, 29, won United’s Player of the Season award for his efforts across 2023/24 and played a key role in their FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City.
The club captain has had rumours circulating around his Old Trafford future in recent months and latest reports have suggested that won’t go away.
It has been claimed that Bayern Munich and Barcelona have already made contact with the player’s camp to find out the conditions for a transfer and may formally move forward soon.
This comes shortly after Fernandes claimed he wanted to stay at United as long as the club’s ambitions met his own.
INEOS have made clear to the 29-year-old that they see him as a key part of their rebuild, and former Ireland midfielder Andy Townsend believes it is ‘obvious’ that the playmaker will remain at the club.
He told talkSPORT: “That would be pretty disastrous for United fans right now, and I am sure they are not even contemplating it. And it would have to be something incredible, and probably it would have to come down to the fact if Bruno turns around and says, ‘I want to go’.
I don’t actually think that’s going to happen at this point. I genuinely wouldn’t have heard him speak about how much he wants to stay and be part of a really successful Man United.
“I honestly feel that he is serious there, and I think he wants to stay and try to be part of its turnaround.”
Fernandes will have his full focus on the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament with Portugal, with the opening games coming in two weeks time.
