Bruno Fernandes has admitted that despite Manchester United’s come-back against Leeds at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening, the squad dropped two Premier League points.

On Wednesday night, Leeds took a 2-0 lead against Manchester United as Erik ten Hag‘s men looked set to lose their first home fixture in over four months.

However a brilliant header from Marcus Rashford and smart finish from Jadon Sancho saw United claw back one point to continue their unbeaten run at home, having not lost in their last 10 Premier League fixtures at Old Trafford.

Despite this, Bruno Fernandes has said they feel it is two points dropped rather than one pointed gained in the league.

“It’s always two points dropped at our home,” Fernandes told MUTV at full time. “It has to be tough for everyone to come here and score goals and gain points from us. We gave a point away to Leeds and we lost two points for us, we could have won the game.

“We had the chance to win, a little bit unlucky in some situations but it’s gone now and we have to look forward to the next game. The only thing we can do now is to learn from the mistakes we did today and don’t do them again on Sunday.”

Manchester United will face Leeds United once again on Sunday afternoon at Elland road in part two of the Leeds-United back-to-back fixtures in the Premier League.

“At this stadium, with the desire and the passion we have, 2-0 can’t happen, but it shouldn’t be a problem,” he continued. “Whenever we go down, it will never be a problem to fight back and turn around the result, even more at home, as we saw today.

“Massive appreciation for the fans, they pushed us at the end and we could have won the game. I think we deserved that win, but as I said, in this stadium, with these players, it will never be a problem to down in the last minutes because we will always fight.”

Fernandes also spoke about Sancho’s impact and potential, saying he hopes that the Englishman’s goal will give him a boost to push forwards back into the starting XI and playing to the level many know he is capable of.

“Hopefully that will give him confidence and a boost for the future because we know how good Jadon can be,” Fernandes said. “We just need him with full confidence to give his best for the team.”
