Manchester City have been hit with multiple charges from the Premier League and accused of over 100 breaches from 2009 to 2018.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag refused to comment on the situation for United’s city rivals.

“I don’t have [an opinion],” he told reporters. “I am not here for regulations. I am a football manager. I stick to that.”

One of the potential punishments for City has been reported as a dismissal of their titles, which many online believe should go to second-placed in those years.

In fact, Manchester Evening News reporter Samuel Luckhurst explained that there has been chatter between United figures who were involved in the club’s second-placed finish in 2017/18 over news that The Reds could be retrospectively announced as champions.

Another report details that a number of Man City’s rivals are keen for them to be relegated from the top flight should the Premier League prove these breaches.

Ten Hag’s dismissal of the topic showed his focus is fully on facing Leeds United on Wednesday.

United’s upcoming opponents have recently sacked their manager Jesse Marsch, with a trio taking charge of their visit to Old Trafford.

“It’s always sad if a manager is a colleague and gets sacked, in general I don’t believe in it that if you sack a manager you get better results,” said Ten Hag.

“Most of the time, it doesn’t work. Let managers do their work, finish their work and then make a good evaluation. Obviously, the pressure is high with the decision makers in football clubs and they turn. But if you see the facts, you see the stats, most of the time it doesn’t work out well.

“We have to be aware of that,” he added when asked about the possibility of a change of style. “When Jesse was at Leeds, it was clear how they play, their way of play, system, style.

“Now, it’s possible they change but it’s also possible they don’t change. We will find out on the pitch tomorrow and then we need good anticipation on that if they change, and if not, we know what to do. Bad anticipation for instance against Villa, the difference for them when Emery came in is they had a week to prepare and now they [Leeds] don’t have so much time to prepare. “
