“Brilliant” Manchester United star makes firm decision on his future after interest from Saudi Arabia

A Manchester United star has come to a final verdict on his Old Trafford future after summer interest from Saudi Arabia and Rúben Amorim’s backing.

Rúben Amorim made several big calls in the summer transfer window, which have already had a big impact on the 2025/26 season.

His first came with the decision to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. With Mason Mount already an option on the left side of the frontline, Bruno Fernandes was officially moved back to defensive midfield.

Not only did it impact Fernandes, but it also left Kobbie Mainoo without a position in the side, despite his excellent form in a Manchester United shirt under Erik ten Hag in 2023/24.

The next big decision came with who Amorim decided to let leave Old Trafford. The most notable outgoers were Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, although Rasmus Hojlund’s move could’ve already come back to bite the manager.

While United received offers for others, Amorim chose to keep those players and build for the future with them in the side.

Casemiro makes final decision on United future

Casemiro – who has previously been described as “brilliant” by Harry Maguire – had the chance to leave United in the summer, with several reports stating there was serious interest from Saudi Arabia, but the Brazilian remained at the club.

Amorim showed faith in the five-time Champions League winner by starting him for the first three Premier League games, although he was dropped for the Manchester derby for Manuel Ugarte.

Now, Brazilian outlet Trivela have reported that Casemiro has made a final verdict on his future at United. He will stay at the club for the remainder of the season, but that will likely be his last at Old Trafford.

Unlike the English transfer window, the Saudi Arabian deadline doesn’t close until Tuesday, 23 September. However, Casemiro made the decision to stay at United recently, so he isn’t likely to change his mind.

Casemiro could play key role this season

While he was dropped against City, Casemiro offers stability in midfield and can be a crucial part of Amorim’s build-up, unlike Ugarte.

Also, with Amorim coming under increasing scrutiny, Casemiro could be a key player for a new manager, as he could lean on the Brazilian’s experience.

The former Real Madrid midfielder is unlikely to hit his best form again, but a good Casemiro is much better than the majority of the other midfield options, especially in Amorim’s difficult system.

United are looking to sign multiple new midfielders in the summer transfer window, and Casemiro’s exit would pave the way for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, known to be the club’s top target, to join the squad.
