BREAKING: Manchester United’s 21-man squad vs Arsenal as Luke Shaw replacement named
Manchester United’s 21-man squad to face Arsenal this Wednesday has been revealed as a replacement for the injured Luke Shaw has been named.
Ruben Amorim has made a promising start as Manchester United boss, recording two wins and a draw in his first three matches, including an impressive 4-0 triumph over Everton.
The United head coach will be encouraged by his squad’s adaptation to his system, but a tougher test awaits with a Premier League showdown against second-placed Arsenal.
Trailing league leaders Liverpool by nine points, Arsenal face immense pressure to secure every available point in their title pursuit.
For Amorim and United, this match offers a chance to play with less pressure and aim to deliver a surprise result at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the Reds received a setback for the game when Luke Shaw confirmed that he will be unavailable for a short period with another injury.
Lisandro Martínez is already missing the fixture due to suspension, alongside Kobbie Mainoo, which leaves the defence short in this game.
16-year-old Godwill Kukonki has once again been called up to the matchday squad for Amorim’s side. Harry Maguire is likely to start as the left centre-back but Kukonki can provide cover in that position and at left wingback if needed.
Meanwhile, the rest of the squad is mostly full strength, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund both available as options at centre-forward.
Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot both travel and would be expected to start as the wingbacks in Amorim’s starting eleven.
Leny Yoro has also returned to the matchday squad and could make his competitive debut for the club after suffering injury against the Gunners in pre-season. Tyrell Malacia is one again in the squad.
Christian Eriksen has also travelled to London for the game to replace Mainoo after being left out of the squad against Everton on the weekend. While Noussair Mazraoui was not spotted by cameras, he is expected to be in the team.
Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelöf are unlikely to be involved. They have both suffered small injury setbacks and were not pictured travelling.
Bruno Fernandes will lead the team out against Arsenal and will be hoping to pull off a surprise victory.
