INEOS have made a new decision based around Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff at Manchester United.

The Reds have been underwhelming this season, and the club’s form has left Ten Hag’s future in the balance.

Ten Hag has three games remaining this season and while victory in the FA Cup final against Manchester City would be sweet, it would unlikely sway INEOS‘ decision either way in terms of his future.

Of course, at Old Trafford, the Dutchman has both Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren as his assistant managers. Eric Ramsay was also an important member of the first-team coaching staff before his mid-season departure to the MLS.

Prior reports have suggested that if Ten Hag were to stay at the club, the new ownership would want to bring in a young English coach to aid the coaching staff under the 54-year-old.

However, it has now been clarified that if Ten Hag departs, INEOS would also hope to keep Steve McClaren at the club.

According to a new report from Simon Mullock, the former assistant coach of Sir Alex Ferguson is set to escape the cut that is expected to claim Ten Hag and the rest of his backroom staff.

The report stated that McClaren has a long-standing professional relationship with INEOS chief Sir Dave Brailsford, who will play a key role in the decision of Ten Hag’s future.

While the likes of Van der Gaag and other coaching staff would head for the exit door if the decision is to bring in a new manager, McClaren is regarded as someone who INEOS can continue to work with in any new managerial regime.‌

McClaren re-joined United in 2022 when Ten Hag took charge, having worked alongside the manager in Holland at FC Twente.‌
