Borussia Dortmund send clear message to Manchester United as Felix Nmecha interest emerges

Borussia Dortmund have sent a clear message to Manchester United after their interest in Felix Nmecha emerged this week.

Manchester United are looking to bolster their midfield this summer after fixing the problems in the frontline at Old Trafford.

The attack was the club’s initial priority heading into the transfer window after Ruben Amorim’s side wasted opportunities galore last term.

Matheus Cunha has joined and Bryan Mbeumo is set for his United medical next week. After a striker is also signed, it looks like the club will move onto other positions.

It has been heavily reported that Amorim wants another midfielder in his ranks and the media line is that the player must be athletic.

There have been various options linked with a potential move to Old Trafford and Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha is the latest of interest.

Dortmund send clear message to United about Nmecha

It was revealed by German reporter Christian Falk this week that United hold an interest in Nmecha, who has a growing market in the Premier League.

The midfielder can play as a box-to-box or slightly deeper, and has been a key figure for the Bundesliga since his arrival in the summer of 2023, with 68 appearances across all competitions.

Dortmund’s stance is clear, and the aforementioned report added that they are ‘fighting’ for the player and do not want to sell him under any circumstances.

Some reports have suggested that the former Manchester City academy star would be made available for around £40 million but the Bundesliga club could be stern with their valuation.

United’s interesting midfield dynamic

With the additions of Cunha and Mbeumo, it feels like Bruno Fernandes will be starting regularly in the midfield pivot next term.

There are several different options to partner the Portuguese star, including Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro.

Should a new midfield signing come into the club this summer, that competition will become even deeper and perhaps an exit will be on the cards for someone like Casemiro.

Mainoo and Fernandes can also both play in those no.10 spots, so it will be interesting to see how that midfield dynamic works next season.
