Alejandro Garnacho has received some of the highest praise from both Javier Mascherano and Juan Sebastian Veron after making his international debut last week.

Alejandro Garnacho recently made his Argentina debut on Thursday evening, playing 15 minutes as La Albiceleste defeated Australia 2-0 in an international friendly, while also featuring again on Monday afternoon against Indonesia.

Garnacho has had nothing short of a stellar first season as a professional football player, impressing in his opening campaign for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag.

He provided five goals and five assists across all domestic competitions in his first season for the first-team squad, earning plaudits from around the world.

Recently, Juan Sebastian Veron explained that he talked to Argentina legend Javier Mascherano and that Mascherano fully expects Garnacho to “become a star”.

“I spoke to Javier Mascherano and he fully expects him [Garnacho] to become a star,” Veron told Gambling Zone. “Playing for Manchester United at that age is not easy, but I think he has to have patience.

“He needs to work really hard because he has the chance to become a regular player for a really big team. I really trust Mascherano’s words, so for him to say he is the best young talent in Argentina is a really big compliment – but it just shows his undoubted quality and he is someone who I am sure has a big future.”

After signing a new contract valid until 2028, it is expected that Garnacho will become even further involved in Erik ten Hag’s squad next season as his talent develops.
