Manchester United are without a handful of key players due to injury ahead of the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich but Thomas Tuchel’s side have also got a few players out.

The German manager replaced Joshua Kimmich after 60 minutes against Bayer Leverkusen on the weekend and explained that the midfielder had an injury problem before that game and was advised to limit his game time.

“Joshua had an inflamed tendon and we didn’t want to take any risks with him,” Tuchel told reporters.

“The medical team clearly said he could only play 60 minutes and that’s why we took him off in the 60th minute.”

However, the former Chelsea coach has since provided a positive update on Kimmich and also revealed that Kingsley Coman will be available to play against United after he was ruled out of the Bundesliga champions’ latest fixture.

“Joshua Kimmich was good today, I’ll get another update on him. Kingsley Coman will be in the squad tomorrow,” he explained.

The Bayern manager did however suggest that the United clash has come too soon for defender Raphaël Guerreiro, who has been out of action since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

“It’s still too early for Raphaël Guerreiro,” added Tuchel. “He’s only done one and a half sessions so far but he’s making good progress. I think there’s still one free place in the squad for tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag has named a 21-man squad for the clash which included four goalkeepers and only three central defenders.

Raphael Varane remains unavailable despite a return to training and Harry Maguire has also not been selected after picking up an injury.
