Marcel Sabitzer joined Manchester United on a straight-loan deal from Bayern Munich in January and has since made four appearances for The Red Devils.

The Austrian midfielder has impressed in the little time that he’s been at Old Trafford and despite there being no option to buy in his contract, Sabitzer could stay at United on a permanent deal.

A report from German outlet SPORT1 has detailed that bosses at the Bundesliga club can “well imagine” a sale for the midfielder that they bought from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021.

However, they would be expecting to receive a higher amount than what they paid back then. It cost them €15 million to bring Sabitzer to the Allianz Arena.

Sabitzer’s time in Munich had not worked out how he would’ve hoped. After so much success as a leader at Leipzig, he was demoted to a role from the bench at Bayern.

However, he’s beginning to enjoy his football again and his agent, Roger Wittmann – who was interviewed by Kerry Hau, believes that England suits his client to a tee.

“He loves this English hardness,” proclaimed Wittmann. “It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him. He’s an aggressive player. He does exactly what he can there. And that’s what’s needed there.

“Marcel is a top player. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s performing so well so quickly. If you have as much experience as Marcel, whether in the Champions League or with his more than 60 international matches, it doesn’t take long to find your way around a club and a league like this.”

His tenacity has been a quality appreciated by many in his short time at Old Trafford so far, but more impressive is his calming yet progressive qualities on the ball. Sabitzer’s clipped passes to the flanks have already helped United score a number of goals and that is one aspect that fans are loving about the Austrian.

If he’s able to show consistency until the end of the season, you could imagine that many involved at United would like to see him continue in the red shirt, for the right price.

“At Manchester United, we see Marcel from Leipzig again. I’m very happy for him,” added his agent. “What’s next in summer? We’ll see when the time comes.”

Erik ten Hag has shown his appreciation for several of the abilities that Sabitzer brings to the team, including his intelligence on the pitch, as well as his determination.

“He understands football,” said Ten Hag when speaking to MUTV earlier this month. “You see it straight from the start. You have seen that in the training as well, but yeah, he did quite well.

“He’s really composed on the ball and he knows how to defend so you need a player like that who understands the game and will bring the right spirit.”
