Barcelona set to go “all in” for Marcus Rashford, four major transfers could earn Manchester United £61.5m

Barcelona are reportedly set to go “all in” for Marcus Rashford this summer, with Manchester United hoping a series of transfers elsewhere go through.

Marcus Rashford is one of five Manchester United players expected to leave the club this summer, with new manager Rúben Amorim having deemed him surplus to requirements.

United’s first-team squad have started returning to Carrington for pre-season, with Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount already back, and most others due to report this week or early next week.

But Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho have all been told to stay away from first-team sessions as they seek exits from Old Trafford. Rashford, however, has been training individually at Carrington.

After scoring Amorim’s first goal at United and a further brace against Everton, Rashford and the head coach soon fell out, with the Portuguese feeling his winger was not trying hard enough in training.

After heading to Aston Villa on loan in January, Rashford scored four goals and provided six assists in 17 appearances, and is now aiming to secure a move to Barcelona this summer.

Barcelona to go “all in” for Rashford this summer

Initially, reports suggested that although Barcelona were open to the idea of signing Rashford, it would likely only be on loan.

However, with their top target, Nico Williams, signing a new ten-year deal at Athletic Club and Liveprool unwilling to let go of Luis Diaz, Barcelona have reportedly increased their interest in Rashford.

According to Sky Germany transfer expert Florien Plettenberg, the Catalan giants are now prepared to go “all in” for Rashford this summer.

Further, Plettenberg explains that Rashford is now Barcelona’s top target for their left-wing position, and manager Hansi Flick has given the green light for his signing.

Four transfers could earn United £61.5 million

All reports suggest that, considering that Rashford still has three years left on his current deal, the club want to sell the winger for around £40 million – a valuation they feel is fair considering his age and clear abilities, despite his confirmed exit.

However, this is not the only transfer United will be eager to see complete. In the last few summers, the club have sold various Academy graduates and included sell-on clauses in their deals, some of which are set to benefit the club this summer.

United are set to receive around £16.2 million from three sell-on clauses in the coming weeks, with former Academy graduates Alvaro Carreras, Anthony Elanga, and Maxi Oyedele signing for Real Madrid, Newcastle, and Strasbourg, respectively.

Beyond this, the club also received a £5m penalty fee from Chelsea earlier this summer, following their decision to forgo the obligation to sign Sancho for £25 million this summer.

Combining the hopeful £40 million they will sign Rashford for this summer with the extra fees received elsewhere, United could be earning up to £61.5 million in the next few weeks.
