Barcelona ‘offer Champions League winner’ to Man Utd in Marcus Rashford swap, it would solve Ruben Amorim headache

Manchester United have been offered a Champions League winner by Barcelona as part of a Marcus Rashford swap deal that would solve one of Rúben Amorim’s headaches.

After finishing 15th in the Premier League, a major shake-up is on the cards at Manchester United, with long-serving star Marcus Rashford seemingly heading for the exit.

After a successful loan at Aston Villa saw him show flashes of his excellence, now seems a better time than ever for the Red Devils to cash in on their man.

With Villa seemingly being put off by the Englishman’s wage demands, this leaves United seeking a new customer, with Barcelona being touted as a potential interest.

However, Barcelona’s financial position isn’t one to be desired, meaning that the £34 million asking fee plus wages may be too expensive, leading them to seek new ideas.

Ter Stegen swap deal emerging

One of the new ideas that has reportedly emerged from the Barcelona camp is one that could see Marc-Andre ter Stegen offered as part of a deal for Rashford.

Reports from Spain (via Football365) state that Barcelona are ‘studying options to sign the Englishman’ as his ‘profile fits perfectly into Hansi Flick’s attacking plans’.

The report states, ‘would be open to including the German in the deal if the signing of Joan Garcia is finally completed’ with Man United ‘looking for a goalkeeper’ after Andre Onana’s poor season in net.

Ter Stegen ‘would be willing to accept a change of scenery’ after ‘feeling he is being pushed towards the exit door’ in recent weeks because of Barcelona’s search for a new goalkeeper.

Amorim to be offered solution to headache

The key issue that has been spoken about at United over the past couple of years outside of their dismal attack is the disappointment of Andre Onana, who they will look to move on from in the summer.

This swap deal could kill two birds with one stone for Ruben Amorim, who could potentially see his want-away winger Rashford exit the club, whilst also offering him a replacement to his goalkeeping dilemma.

Although this swap seems to offer Amorim a perfect solution, it may be one that he turns down due to the age of the player being offered. Ter Stegen may offer a short-term solution, but at 33, his age and injury record will surely be a concerning factor.
