In Italian media, Barcelona could secure a transfer that would ‘free’ Manchester United around £40 million for Jadon Sancho’s move this summer.

After spending £139 million on Joshua ZirkzeeLeny YoroMatthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, Manchester United are now focused on generating funds through player sales for additional transfers.

The club have successfully raised £55 million from the exits of Aaron Wan-BissakaMason GreenwoodWilly Kambwala, and others’ exits as they scout the market for more opportunities before the transfer window closes next Thursday.

United are keen to secure at least one midfielder by the 30 August deadline, with Paris St. Germain’s Manuel Ugarte emerging as a top target. According to Fabrizio Romano, Ugarte is very eager to make the move to Old Trafford.

However, to fund the deal for Ugarte, United need to secure another sale. PSG want around £51 million for the 23-year-old Uruguay international.

United have already stated that they will not be bidding as high as this, and with the player not involved in first-team training, there is a belief that the Ligue 1 outfit may lower their demands ahead of the transfer deadline.

One player who may still make way for Ugarte in the coming days is Jadon Sancho, but his move may hinge on motions that Barcelona would have to trigger.

Recently, Juventus reinstated talks with United for Sancho, and United demanded around £40 million for his sale. Although this may be steep for the Serie A club, Gazzetta Dello Sport has outlined how the deal may happen.

Juventus are still looking to offload Italian winger Federico Chiesa after he was deemed surplus to requirements. With one year left on his deal, they want to shift him out of Turin before the window closes.

Contacts between Chiesa’s camp and Barcelona have already been initiated, as have conversations between the Serie A and La Liga outfits. Should this move go through, it would “free” Sancho to move to Juventus.

GDS explained that Sancho’s move could be a last-minute loan, although it has been well-documented that United want guaranteed cash for the player in the region of their £40 million asking price.

Sancho’s wages are also an issue, with the player currently sitting at around £300,000 per week. Sancho’s sale would pretty much guarantee United their funds for Ugarte.
