Barcelona hatch Manchester United summer transfer plan as Marcus Rashford strategy outlined

Barcelona’s plan to secure the services of Marcus Rashford next summer have been revealed, with the winger’s time at Manchester United seemingly over.

Having been contracted to Manchester United for his entire professional career, Marcus Rashford’s time at the club has seemingly been over since the arrival of Ruben Amorim.

In January 2025, Rashford was sent on loan to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa before then returning to United in the summer, where his number was handed to new signing Matheus Cunha.

The English winger has now been sent out on his second loan of 2025, where he is now playing his football in Spain for Barcelona.

With seven goal contributions in ten appearances for La Blaugrana, the 27-year-old has managed to find his former self out in Spain, which could persuade the Spanish giants to trigger the option-to-buy clause come next summer.

Barcelona’s plan for Rashford fee

As reported by Sport, Barcelona have a strategy in place to secure the services of Rashford permanently, but by paying United less than what was proposed in the loan arrangement.

The report states that Barca’s plan is to keep the player if everything continues as it is, but by lowering the transfer fee, or by opting for a new loan.

Rashford reportedly has no desire to return to United, despite the fact that Amorim may be on borrowed time at the club, and would ideally continue as a Blaugrana player.

Barcelona have a purchase option for around £30 million, but they are clear that it is a negotiable price. With Rashford contracted to United until 2028, he would have to push for the move, similarly to this previous summer.

Will Rashford’s form continue?

Clearly, Rashford has become an instant fan favourite for his new side out in Spain, with him looking far more rejuvenated both on and off the pitch.

As well as impressing in La Liga, the English attacker has been a shining light in the early stages of the Champions League, including an assist against Paris Saint-Germain and a fantastic brace against Newcastle United.

If Barcelona are to snap up Rashford next summer, the United man will have to continue his fine form, as well as pushing for the move himself in order to benefit the Spanish club financially.

Hopefully, for the 1997-born attacker, he can carry on lighting up Spain, as it is always nice to see such long-standing servants of the Reds find their best form.
