Florent Malouda gave his say on the Jadon Sancho saga as he believed his former side should steer clear of the Manchester United ace.
After a very difficult few years for Manchester United, Jadon Sancho looked for a new beginning as he moved down south to Chelsea for a season-long loan move.
The Blues signed Sancho for the season as they looked to further stack their deep squad ahead of their return to European football.
This deal included a £25m obligation to buy as long as Chelsea were to finish above the bottom six in the Premier League. However, they can buy out of the obligation if they choose to for around £6.15m.
Since arriving in London, Sancho has scored four goals and ten assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. His future at the club is believed to depend on his form for the remainder of the season.
Malouda warns against Sancho signing
It has been rumoured that Chelsea currently have no plans to send Sancho back to Manchester amid an “incredible” last few performances, and this has become a big talking point about whether this is a good move for Enzo Maresca’s side.
Former Blue Florent Malouda has given his verdict on the situation, and he said, as cited on X, “for Jadon Sancho, it’s not about his talent anymore.”
He continued, “The point is more we haven’t really seen Sancho showing that he really wants to succeed on the pitch with Chelsea.
“At this point, I don’t think it would be a good thing for him to stay at Chelsea, because I guess that the club will try to sign new players, so he will probably go back to Manchester United.”
Sancho exit a positive for United?
With an exit for Sancho on the horizon, this could potentially free up an estimated £300k per week, as well as the £25m transfer fee for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Amorim has plans for United to engage in a busy summer. He aims to build a team more suited to his 3-4-3 system, and new forwards are a certainty.
United have been linked with a host of names so far for replacing their misfiring forwards, with some of the names including Matheus Cunha, Liam Delap and Bryan Mbeumo.
The 25-year-old’s departure will end a dismal four years as a Red Devil; however, it will open the door for new signings to etch their names into United’s history books.
