Aston Villa ‘make early transfer decision’ about Jadon Sancho, Manchester United can finally get what they want

Aston Villa have already taken an early transfer decision regarding Jadon Sancho’s loan from Manchester United amid Unai Emery’s struggles.

Manchester United have been trying to move Jadon Sancho on for close to two years, but despite multiple bids for the former Manchester City academy graduate, no permanent deal has gone through.

He spent last season on loan at Chelsea, though Enzo Maresca’s side opted to pay £5 million to cut the arrangement short instead of triggering the £25 million option to buy.

United have stood firm on that £25 million valuation and looked close to agreeing terms with AS Roma earlier in the window, only for Sancho to reject the switch.

With the English transfer window about to close, Rúben Amorim’s side finalised a deal for the winger to join Aston Villa on loan for the campaign, with the Villans covering at least 80% of his wages and paying an undisclosed loan fee.

Villa want to make Sancho’s loan deal permanent

Villa have struggled significantly this season, having collected just three points from their opening five Premier League games and failing to secure a win in the league so far.

The club have conceded five and scored just one, with Sancho so far having played 82 minutes for the club since signing on deadline day.

However, according to the National World, manager Unai Emery has already seen enough from Sancho on the field and from behind closed doors to warrant signing him permanently next summer.

Villa are therefore likely to broach the subject with Sancho in the new year, although this now depends on United’s next decision.

United could seek payment from Villa for Sancho

Sancho’s current contract is set to expire in June next year, which is, of course, very appealing to Villa – they recently signed Victor Lindelöf on a free contract after his deal with United expired last summer.

However, United have the option to throw a spanner in the works for Villa and Sancho, as they can extend the player’s deal by a further season should they wish to retain his value for a little longer.

United have always wanted to secure some fee for Sancho’s departure. Still, so far, his loans to Dortmund, Chelsea, and Villa have produced nominal amounts of cash, with the major saving grace being that most of his wages have been covered elsewhere.

But, if they were to extend Sancho’s contract by a further season and agree a transfer of around £10 million for Sancho, all parties will be able to secure what they want.

The winger leaves United, Amorim’s club receives the fee and his wages off the books, and Villa secures the transfer of a player with potential for success for a very favourable fee.
