Aston Villa eyeing stunning move for Alejandro Garnacho as Erik ten Hag reacts to £60m Man Utd transfer fee

Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this summer amid a push from Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United are happy to see Alejandro Garnacho leave Old Trafford this summer, provided his fee fetches around £60 million.

Garnacho’s future has been one of intense debate since Rúben Amorim’s arrival as although the 20-year-old winger has made 40 appearances under the head coach this season, it’s felt as if he has never quite fit in the 3-4-3 formation.

Amorim likes to play two inside forwards on either side of his lone striker, but Garnacho’s talents are at their forefront as a touchline winger, with those such as Amad and Mason Mount more technically suited to the roles.

Amid United’s need to balance their books over the next few months to avoid breaching profit and sustainability rules, Garnacho’s status as an Academy graduate means his sale would be recorded as pure profit, which would relieve United’s financial burdens.

Villa enter the race for Garnacho this summer

United and Villa did business in January when the Manchester side sent 27-year-old outcast Marcus Rashford on loan for six months, with the Birmingham club retaining the option to sign him for £40 million.

However, with Villa choosing not to exercise this clause after failing to qualify for Champions League football, Rashford is eyeing a hopeful move to Barcelona this summer, but this has not stopped Unai Emery’s men from eyeing further Old Trafford talent.

According to CaughtOffside, the Villians are now among Garnacho’s suitors this summer, joining the long list of teams who are seriously considering signing the player this summer.

Chelsea are also well documented fans of the Argentina international, having made an approach to sign him in January, although CaughtOffside reports that interest in him has cooled from the Stamford Bridge outfit.

How many clubs are interested in Garnacho this summer?

It’s hard to tell just how many teams across Europe are intersted in the player condiering his immense talent and future potential, but another side who have entered the fray are Bayer Leverkusen, having appointed Erik ten Hag as their new boss.

Garnacho played 98 times under the Dutch coach at Old Trafford, and various reports have stated that Ten Hag wants to make Garnacho his first signing at the Bundesliga outfit, althougt the CaughtOffside report claims they want a loan deal as United’s demands are too steep.

Meanwhile, AC Milan have also contacted the winger’s representitives, while other Italian clubs Juventus, Inter Milan and Roma, have all eyed the player.

Although Napoli have been strong contendors to sign Garnacho as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, their current transfer activity has cooled amid uncertainty about manager Antonio Conte’s future.
