Alejandro Garnacho has already selected his preferred destination once he departs Manchester United this summer, despite fresh contact with Arsenal.
Alejandro Garnacho will likely leave Manchester United this summer after failing to adapt to life under Rúben Amorim and multiple off-field incidents at the club.
The talented 20-year-old winger does not have an obvious place within Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, and with Matheus Cunha set to sign as United’s new left-sided attacker, it seems best for all parties.
As far as United are concerned, they are reportedly happy to negotiate transfer fees set at around the £60 million mark, and multiple clubs have shown interest.
Napoli came close to a deal in January for Garnacho to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, while Chelsea have held an interest in the player since the turn of 2024.
Arsenal the latest club to hold talks with Garnacho
With the Argentina international free to leave United this summer, his entourage have already started engaging in talks with potential clubs who could take on the player this summer.
While it’s thought that the lines of communication with Napoli and Chelsea established in January remain open, TBR Football have now reported that his agents have had contact with Arsenal regarding a potential move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Garnacho himself is already resigned to leaving Old Trafford this summer, and may follow in the footsteps of Scott McTominay, who departed last summer and secured himself the award of Serie A MVP with Napoli as they clinched the league title.
Previous reports have stated that Napoli boss Antonio Conte sees Garnacho as a “jewel” player to have as part of his front three next season.
Garnacho already knows where he wants to play next season
Although there will be a number of clubs interested in the winger this summer, the report from TBR Football further states that the player wants to return to Spain this summer.
It is claimed that, of the options Garnacho currently has, his preferred destination this summer would be to head back to the city of his birth and re-sign for Atletico Madrid, five years after leaving the club for United as a 15-year-old.
Atleti are said to be hugely keen to sign the player this summer. Diego Simeone wants to add fresh firepower to his attack amid the possible departure of Julian Alvarez to Liverpool.
Should Garnacho be sold for a fee upward of £60 million, United will look to reinvest this into bringing in extra reinforcements in attack and midfield, with Amorim wanting to add increased physicality to his squad.
