According to a new report, Arsenal are one of two Champions League clubs to enquire about Antony as Manchester United up their asking price.
Manchester United are hoping to sell Antony this summer following the player’s fantastic form while on loan at La Liga club Real Betis.
United signed Antony for around £85 million in the 2022 summer transfer window after Erik ten Hag pushed for the signing, notching three goals in his first three games, although his form soon tailed off.
After two seasons of underperformance, United’s new head coach, Rúben Amorim, deemed the Brazilian as surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, with the player being sent on loan to Betis for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
At Betis, Antony has since secured six goals and four assists in 19 games, including a stunning volley in their Conference League semi-final first-leg against Fiorentina.
Arsenal enquire about signing Antony
According to a fresh report from UOL, Antony is attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs with the transfer window set to open next month.
While Betis have made their interest in keeping the player known, the Brazilian report has stated that both Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have enquired about Antony as they prepare their plans for the summer window.
This comes after Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo publicly stated that he will try “everything possible” to make sure the winger remains at Betis beyond this summer.
“Although I am responsible for the sporting management, there are many people involved in this signing,” Fajardo explained. “It’s still early, but we will try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony.”
United raise Antony asking price
Last month, it was reported that United would look to sell Antony for around £30 million this summer to make sure his sale comes as a profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) positive for the club.
However, with his good form being sustained and clubs such as Atleti and Arsenal enquiring about the player, this asking price is now set at between £35-40 million.
With Antony still having two years left on his initial contract, his amortisation value is £34 million. This means that in order for his sale to be recorded as a profit on their PSR books, his final fee must be above this value.
United will no doubt be hoping that a bidding war for the player is set to commence, which will drive up bids for him in the coming months.
