“Anything is possible…” Wrexham eyeing ambitious move for Manchester United man who played 22 times under Rúben Amorim

Wrexham are reportedly eyeing an ambitious move for one of Rúben Amorim’s current crop of players as Manchester United eye a major clearout this summer.

Manchester United are turning their attention to player exits this summer as Rúben Amorim sets out to reshape the squad at Old Trafford.

The Reds have already completed a £62.5 million move for Matheus Cunha from Wolves and are continuing talks with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo, though their £45 million bid plus £10 million in add-ons was rejected.

Strengthening in attack and midfield remains a priority, and a new goalkeeper could also be considered if André Onana departs.

With several players set to leave upon the expiry of their contracts this month, more exits are expected as United look to refresh the squad.

Wrexham eyeing ambitious Eriksen move

With Christian Eriksen one of those leaving at the end of this month, once his contract expires, he will be a free agent and open to any project that wishes to sign him this summer.

Wrexham A.F.C., owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have stormed up to the Championship since their takeover in February 2021, becoming the first club to secure three consecutive promotions in the top five leagues of English football.

With the club looking to add significant talent to their Championship squad ahead of next season, the Wrexham-dedicated Fearless In Devotion podcast have discussed the rumours of the Welsh side landing Eriksen this summer.

One of the hosts, Tim, said: “Apparently, yeah, apparently, Parky (manager Phil Parkinson) is interested in signing Christian Eriksen.

“Now again, sort of the pre-fit for what we have is of a certain age of a certain experience. And he is of a certain age, and he comes with bags of experience.

“So, we’re in a weird position where it’s almost impossible to chuck any of these ideas out and dismiss them as complete lunacy because it’s Wrexham, isn’t it? Anything is possible. I don’t see it because I think there’s only so many players you can afford where the wages are going to be obscene.”

Eriksen has already admitted he wants to leave England

Wrexham, however, will be unlikely to be able to secure Eriksen’s signature, as the Danish midfielder has already admitted that he would rather get away from the Premier League and secure a move to Europe.

“Right now, there is nothing,” Eriksen explained this week when asked about his plans for the future. “There is interest all around, but there is nothing that I am close to signing. My focus will be to play international matches and then have a good summer holiday.

“Then we will see how long the holiday will be. I would rather get away from the Premier League. I feel I have had my turn in the Premier League, so I am looking outside the English borders.

“It’s been a great place for me and my family, and we’ve been there for many years. When I moved from Tottenham to Inter, it wasn’t the plan for me to go back to England. I’ve been there for three and a half years again since then, so you can never say never, but the priority is for me to leave.”

Although Wrexham’s stunning rise in English football looks to continue into the coming season, the chances that Eriksen will play a role are minimal.
