Antony’s agent has revealed that his client is open to joining a Saudi Pro League side this summer amid his desire to leave Manchester United.
Manchester United are turning their attention to the final phase of their summer rebuild as Rúben Amorim readies himself for his first full season in charge at Old Trafford.
The club have already added Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and Bryan Mbeumo, with Cunha and Mbeumo expected to lead a revamped front line. Leon, just 18, will act as backup to Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu at left wing-back.
United’s priorities for the remainder of the window include bringing in a seasoned striker, a new defensive midfielder, and a goalkeeper to challenge André Onana.
However, further signings are likely to hinge on outgoings, with key players such as Alejandro Garnacho potentially being sold to raise the necessary funds.
Antony open to Saudi move
Eralier this week, reports broke that two unnamed but top Saudi clubs were interested in bringing Antony to the Middle East this summer.
Junior Pedroso, Antony’s agent, has now confirmed that his client would be open to the move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, but that they will take their time to analyse and assess each project.
Speaking to the Arabic website WinWin, Pedroso explained, “What I can say is that the player is on the market, and there are several clubs that want to know his current status.
“We listen to the projects and analyse them. But he is open to moving to Saudi Arabia. Anything is possible; we are looking for what is best for him.”
United’s asking price is clear
United’s transfer fee price for Antony has been clear this summer, with Real Betis trying their best to re-sign the player, but so far, they have been unable to afford him.
Since April, United have been adamant that the Brazilian’s price tag sits at around £35 million, as this is just over the minimum amortisation value that he would need to be sold for this summer for his sale not to be recorded as a loss.
Antony’s stunning six-month loan at Betis has allowed United to demand such a fee, with the nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances doubling the player’s value.
However, with Betis so far failing to generate any permanent bid and instead asking for the winger on loan for a further season, United will be hoping that Saudi clubs will launch concrete bids soon, allowing the club to move on to signing their three remaining targets.
