Antony’s agent breaks silence on Man United future amid loan rumours
Antony’s agent has broken his silence on the Brazilian’s future at Manchester United amid loan rumours this week.
Antony joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 for an astounding £85 million following a drawn-out negotiation with Ajax.
So far, his performances under Erik ten Hag have been mostly disappointing. Last season, he managed only one Premier League goal despite being a regular starter for much of the campaign.
Similarly, Jadon Sancho has not lived up to expectations since his £73 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 and appeared likely to leave the club this summer.
However, after resolving his issues with Ten Hag, the 24-year-old is set to remain at the club and has returned to training at Carrington. He played in the pre-season friendly against Rangers on Saturday.
While this is a boost for Sancho, who now has the opportunity to prove his quality, there are still doubts about retaining both him and Antony at the club.
According to ESPN, the Brazilian winger will be allowed to leave Old Trafford on loan this summer if a club is willing to cover his £70,000-a-week salary.
Yet, on Sunday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano held an exclusive interview with the agent of the Brazilian winger, Junior Pedroso, who addressed the player’s future this summer.
“The plan of Antony is to stay at Manchester United. We are not planning for anything else,” Romano relayed.
“We also had a contact with Manchester United and we already discussed about that.”
This is not the first time that Pedroso has come out into the media to deny exit rumours surrounding his client. Antony was also subject to January transfer rumours last term.
Pedroso told UnitedInFocus in January: “Manchester has so far not communicated any interest in transferring him in either the January or summer window.
“Antony is focused on these four months of the season so he can improve his performance, knowing that he needs to score goals and assists. This is his focus. Today our head is on Manchester United.”
