Antony hit with transfer blow after confirmation European giant ‘don’t want him’
Antony has been hit with a transfer blow after it was confirmed that one European giant do not want to sign him from Manchester United despite great Real Betis performances.
Antony has hit the ground running at Real Betis since joining on loan from Manchester United in late January, making an instant impression across his first four matches.
The Brazilian winger announced himself in style, winning Man of the Match on his debut—a thrilling 2-2 draw against Athletic Club. He played a pivotal role in Betis’ opener, as his parried shot was turned in by Isco.
His strong start has only continued, earning two more Man of the Match awards in his next three outings. In just four appearances, the 24-year-old has already notched three goals and an assist.
His standout display came in last weekend’s commanding 3-0 win over Real Sociedad, where he both scored and assisted. His goal was particularly eye-catching—a stunning volley from the edge of the box to break the deadlock early in the second half.
With four goal contributions in as many games, Antony is now just one goal away from matching his entire tally for United last season, when he recorded three goals and two assists across 38 appearances.
Antony hit with transfer blow
Although Antony has been open in expressing his happiness at Real Betis and away from Manchester, his good form coupled with the fact that the La Liga outfit to not have a buy clause in his contract means he is unlikely to stay at the club.
Their club record signing to this day is the €30 million signing of Brazilian winger Denilson in 1998, which equates to just under £20 million at the time, and with United demanding around £40 million for Antony last summer prior to his fantastic form at Betis, it’s unlikely they will be able to afford him.
However, earlier this week, reports from Spain indicated that Bayern Munich have “taken note” of the Brazilian’s recent displays and is “closely following” his progress in Spain.
However, Bundesliga transfer expert Christian Falk has handed the latest on this, explaining that reports of Bayern wanting to sign Antony are false.
“FC Bayern already had the chance to sign the player once,” Falk explained. “But those responsible were not one hundred per cent convinced. That’s still the case today. Moreover, like [Phil] Foden, he would currently be too expensive.”
Antony must be sold in the summer
Antony’s form at Betis has come as a surprise to everyone, considering that earlier this season at United, he had scored just one goal – a penalty against League One side Barnsley during a 7-0 win in September.

However, should his good form continue, there is little doubt that some fans may call for the £85 million former Ajax man to be given a chance in the squad, considering the lack of current firepower under Rúben Amorim.
However, the club must resist all temptations to keep the player and make sure they can receive as much money as possible, but also that he leaves fairly soon after the window opens.
United are said to have as little as £20 million in the bank this summer prior to sales, meaning United need to raise cash through players sales.
Jadon Sancho will sign for £25 million with Chelsea, while Marcus Rashford’s loan to Aston Villa has a £40 million buy option in it, while PSV Eindhoven can sign Tyrell Malacia for £8.3 million at the end of the season should they wish.
United also have a 50% sell-on clause inserted into Marseille’s Mason Greenwood contract, with Paris St. Germain reportedly sniffing around the player with a potential £62 million bid on the way.
