Antoine Griezmann addresses transfer rumours amid Man United interest
Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has addressed the latest transfer rumours around him as Manchester United reportedly hold interest in the player.
Griezmann, 32, has been excellent for the La Liga side this term after re-joining the club from Barcelona on a permanent basis following his loan deal last season.
With 12 goals and one assist, the Frenchman has been a key part of Atlético’s impressive start to the campaign and there has been noise around his future.
United have registered their interest in the experienced forward following reports that stated the Old Trafford club are looking for additions to aid 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund, who is yet to score in the Premier League.
However, the likelihood of Griezmann making the move to England is extremely unlikely considering Los Colchoneros’ form this season and he has come out to reiterate his intention to stay at the Civitas Metropolitan Stadium and help win them the Spanish league.
Speaking to Marca, Griezmann said: “I’ve to earn myself to be a legend in this club. That’s my mission.
“By 2024 I want to bring joy to the fans and some title for Atlético. It would be a dream.”
The World Cup winner was once close to a move to United when Jose Mourinho was in charge but a deal never materialised.
Meanwhile, United will certainly be looking elsewhere for offensive reinforcements in the coming months as the January transfer window approaches.
With Hojlund unlikely to be involved against Everton on Sunday, Erik ten Hag may need to turn to Anthony Martial, who has struggled with his own fitness since the Dutchman took charge.
