Andre Onana’s secret reason for wanting Trabzonspor move as Manchester United reach shock loan agreement

The secret reason why Andre Onana may still leave Manchester United this week has been revealed, as the club reach a loan agreement with Trabzonspor.

Manchester United’s summer transfer spending came to a total of just over £230 million, with this total being amassed by four acquisitions.

Three of these signings were attackers brought in to eradicate Ruben Amorim’s previous goalscoring concerns, whereas the fourth signing was to try and bolster the goalkeeping department.

Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko arrived to create a new-look front three for the Red Devils, whilst Senne Lammens joined to provide some much-needed competition between the sticks.

With Lammens arriving at Old Trafford, the futures of Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana now look slightly more dubious, with the latter potentially leaving in the coming weeks.

Why Onana may push for exit

It has been reported that United will listen to offers for both Onana and Bayındır in the coming weeks, with the window still being open for clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Galatasaray were a side previously interested in Onana, although the Turkish champions ultimately decided on signing Ugurcan Cakir on Monday instead.

Following this, news has broken from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that United have reached a club-to-club agreement for a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor this month.

With the decision now up to Onana, the 29-year-old may choose to leave Old Trafford this summer window because he will want to avoid getting sucked into a transfer saga during the African Cup of Nations in January.

The 29-year-old is hoping to be part of Cameroon’s squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations tournament, which will run from December 21 to January 18.

Amorim’s goalkeeping headache

Having just eradicated the majority of his attacking headache in one window, the last thing Amorim will want is for another conundrum to arise in another area of the pitch.

Since his arrival, the Portuguese tactician has struggled to avoid drama revolving around his forwards, which ultimately led to the departures of the likes of AntonyAlejandro GarnachoRasmus Højlund, and Marcus Rashford, with the latter two being on initial loan moves.

Now that this issue seems relatively resolved, a goalkeeping headache will be something that Amorim will be desperate to avoid.

Hopefully, United’s manager can either offload one of his current shot-stoppers or find a way to keep all three goalkeepers plus Tom Heaton happy should Onana reject the offer.
