Andrè Onana provided the perfect reply to Gary Neville’s claim that he will be the reason Manchester United do not qualify for the Champions League next season.

Andrè Onana‘s start to life as Manchester United‘s new first-choice goalkeeper has produced a mixed bag of results, with the player producing some magic moments but also some horror errors as David de Gea‘s replacement.

Erik ten Hag signed the goalkeeper for around £45 million in the summer, with the Cameroon international making some significant errors across competitions – with Gary Neville claiming that Onana will be a big reason why the club will fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

“I don’t think Manchester United will finish in the top five this season,” Neville said two weeks ago. “I think they are way off it.

“And I’m surprised because seven or eight weeks ago, I had them third, But honestly from what I see at the moment, I don’t think the goalkeeper is settled in, I think he should have saved the (goal against Brentford) so that is a problem.

“If your goalkeeper is not settled in and there is a bit of instability around that, it does create a big problem. I’ve had that at United. So United, not for me.”

Andrè Onana’s mighty heroics in the dying moments of the Champions League win over FC Copenhagen are the perfect response to Neville’s comments.

In the 90+8th minute, well after extra time was over, it was Onana who guessed correctly to save Jordan Larsson’s spot-kick, showing both Neville and United fans across the world that he can be counted on when it matters.
