Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has assured fans of the Red Devils that the side are “ready” to face Manchester City.

Onana, who has recovered from a poor start at Old Trafford, has become one of United’s best players this season. Growing in confidence over the last few months, Onana will hope that his confidence will prove vital in beating City in the Premier League this Sunday.

With uncertainty surrounding current United boss Erik ten Hag’s future at the club, the game is a must-win for a United team that has displayed an inability to hit their full potential this season.

Despite this, as well as the fact United will travel to face a City team that last lost at home over fifteen months ago, Onana remains confident that United are ready for City.

Speaking after United’s FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest Onana warned United’s club rivals that United will be ready for them.

“We all know how important the game is for us, for the club and city,” Stated Onana. “So we will be ready for them because we’re Manchester United. It’s not going to be easy but we’ll make it difficult for them.

“I believe in my guys, we’ll fight there and we’ll see what happens. For sure, 100 per cent, we’re ready to play these kinds of games, very nice and exciting game.

“We play against a very good top team, we know who they are and we’ll be ready for them.”

Manchester United are likely to play City without top scorer Rasmus Hojlund, whilst several others players remain a doubt for the contest.

There is no update on the injury status of club captain Bruni Fernandes as of Thursday morning. Fernandes was seen limping after the conclusion of United’s FA Cup fifth-round victory over Nottingham Forest.
