“Amorim believes…” Pundit explains real reason for Kobbie Mainoo exclusion amid Bayern Munich links

Richard Keys has explained the real reason as to why Ruben Amorim has excluded Kobbie Mainoo from his Manchester United starting XI amid Bayern Munich links.

Manchester United thrashed a deflated Wolverhampton Wanderers side on Monday night to send the Reds up to sixth in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim’s side managed to deliver a far-improved performance from their disappointing 1-1 draw with West Ham United as they saw their way past the bottom-placed top-flight side.

United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, was the pick of the bunch as he managed to contribute two goals as well as an assist, whilst his fellow midfielder Kobbie Mainoo was yet again left on the bench.

Mainoo’s exclusion from the starting XI has been an incredibly common occurrence this season, and it has led to him being rumoured to exit when the January transfer window arrives.

Mainoo’s exclusion

As reported by Football365, Richard Keys has explained the reason why Amorim isn’t playing Mainoo, with it mainly being to do with his athleticism.

Keys claimed in his blog, “I learned at the weekend why Amorim won’t play Mainoo, who sadly will leave United now – probably in January.

“Amorim believes he can’t get round the pitch – that Mainoo isn’t mobile enough. I’ve heard some baffling nonsense from this generation of coaches (I give you Wilfried Nancy after Celtic’s defeat to Hearts) and this is right up there.

“Not mobile enough? So Amorim picks Casemiro instead? If it wasn’t so sad, it would be laughable.”

Mainoo linked to Munich

As stated in the same report, Spanish source Fichajes have insisted that German giants Bayern Munich ‘see an opportunity’ to sign the Englishman in January.

His market value, which sits around £80million, is said to be ‘manageable for a club that has historically focused on developing young players with room to grow’.

Mainoo is rumoured to have many potential suitors, including Chelsea, Tottenham, and Napoli, by January.

Finally, the report adds: ‘For Kobbie Mainoo, choosing his next destination is crucial. He wants a project where he can grow, compete, and take on responsibilities, and that’s where Bayern Munich has the advantage.’

With the young midfielder desperate to try and work his way into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, it will be important that he chooses a club that will help him to thrive.
