Amad Diallo breaks silence on Rasmus Højlund argument after Manchester United win
Amad Diallo has broken his silence on an argument between him and Rasmus Højlund following Manchester United’s 2-1 win over FC Plzen.
On Thursday, Manchester United came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over FC Viktoria Plzeň in the Europa League, with Rasmus Højlund’s double proving decisive for Rúben Amorim’s men.
The visitors dominated possession early on but struggled to create clear chances, with misplaced passes and miscommunication stifling their attacking rhythm. Plzeň, content to defend deep, kept United at bay in a frustrating first half.

Disaster struck for United early in the second half when a costly error from André Onana gifted the home side the lead. However, the response was swift, as Amad Diallo’s brilliant solo run and shot forced a save, allowing Højlund to tap in the rebound and bring United level.
Mason Mount missed a chance to put United ahead as time ticked away, but in the closing minutes, captain Bruno Fernandes delivered a sublime assist, setting up Højlund to fire home the winner and seal all three points.
The victory moves United into the top eight of the Europa League standings, giving them a strong chance of avoiding the play-off round in the new year.
Amad and Højlund’s argument
However, after the full-time whistle, it was spotted that Højlund and Amad were arguing, with the Danish international pushing the winger away and then ignoring him after Amad failed to cross to him to seal his hattrick, choosing to shoot instead.
Then, they had a temporary spat with each other that was caught on camera, before eventually calming down and heading into the changing room.
However, Amad Diallo has now broken his silence on the matter, releasing a post on Instagram of the pair high fiving, accompanied by Højlund’s name, a heart emoji, and a fingers crossed emoji.
It seems that whatever issue they may have had has now been resolved ahead of the Manchester derby.
Amorim says it’s perfect
Amorim was asked at full time what he made of the argument, to which he said it was “perfect” as it showed his players care.
“For me, it’s perfect,” he said, when asked by journalists about the brief situation between Amad and Hojlund, in the after-match media briefing at the Doosan Arena.
“We need to feel something. In this moment, we need to feel something. If we need to fight each other, it’s like a family. For me, it’s a very, very good sign.
“When you don’t care, you do nothing. When you care, you fight with your brother, with your mother, your father [laughs]. So, for me, it’s a very good sign.”
