Amad Diallo lists his three best Manchester United friends, warns of squad competition
Amad Diallo has listed three of his closest friends at Manchester United but issues a warning surrounding competition for places at the club.
Amad Diallo is a firm fan favourite at Manchester United, but his career feels like it is only just starting three and a half years after he joined the club.
Now an important player under Erik ten Hag, it has taken multiple loans and spells as a bench player, as well as a knee injury, in order for the 22-year-old to embed himself at United and establish himself as a key man for the future.

Amad has experienced loans at Rangers and Sunderland, with the latter being particularly successful, but an injury in pre-season last summer ruled him out of the first half of the 2023/24 campaign.
Once he returned at the end of December, he was afforded limited game time, but following fantastic displays against Newcastle and Arsenal at the end of the season, he has now been rewarded with a rightful place among the club’s forward line.
Amad has shown that he is close friends with many of United’s other young stars and has revealed that he has formed a special bond with Rasmus Højlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
“I think the relationship is natural because we are young, young players,” Amad said to reporters on Tuesday afternoon. “I got a good relationship with everyone, with every player, but maybe with those guys, maybe because we are young and I’ve got a lot more relationship with them than the other players.
“But Rasmus is a good guy. He’s from Atalanta, like me. So we’ve got a good relationship. Kobbie and Garna, we are the same age, and Kobbie is a beautiful guy, nice guy, every time smiling. So yeah, I’m happy to be part of that team and to be a friend of those guys.”
However, Amad also admitted that while these four are friends, he also recognises that they are competing for a place in the United XI, complimenting his fellow wingers at the club.
“Everyone wants to play,” he told the press. “That’s why in the training you need to put everything, you need to fight to start in the XI. So yeah, everyone wants to play.
“We have a good team, we have good players: Antony, Sancho, Rashford, Garnacho. Everyone is a good player. It’s the manager who can decide who will go on the pitch and who will go on the bench.
“But the most important thing, when you don’t play, you need to be ready because you never know. You can decide the game when you are on the bench. So yeah, everyone is important in the team.”
