The reason Amad Diallo used a new goal celebration against Newcastle United has been revealed.

Scoring and assisting against Newcastle, Amad was arguably United’s best player on Wednesday night. His performance against the Magpies was deemed so impressive that United legend Steve Bruce told him directly he should be in Erik ten Hag’s FA Cup final team.

His goal on the night was a classy strike, blasting the ball past former Manchester United keeper Martin Dubravka to give United a 2-1 lead.

Just his third goal of his senior Manchester United career, Amad’s only other goal this campaign had resulted in the winger being sent off for his goal celebrations.

When scoring the winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup back in March, Amad chose to remove his shirt – forcing referee John Brooks to dismiss the Ivorian.

With that in mind, upon scoring the first Premier League goal of his career against Newcastle, Amad was forced to find a new celebration.

Inspired by Real Madrid teenage sensation Arda Güler and at the suggestion of Manchester United’s academy coach Mohammed Abdullahii, Amad chose to replicate Güler’s celebration.

Güler’s celebration is centred around the belief that everything that happens is in God’s plan, something that he explained recently to KAFA Sports, stating the following:

“My goal celebration is based on God. I believe everything comes from God. There may be some injuries I see as bad, but I believe that as long as I continue to work hard, everything will be good.

“I’m trying to do everything the right way. I work hard every day. I leave the rest to God. That is the meaning of my goal celebration“
