Amad Diallo addresses long-term career plans amid Manchester United contract plans
Amad Diallo has addressed his long-term career plans as Manchester United plan to offer the exciting winger a new contract at Old Trafford.
Amad, 22, has had an excellent start to the season and looks set to be United’s starting right winger throughout the campaign.
Erik ten Hag has been impressed by the left-footed winger, who broke into the team at the back end of last season.
After assisting Marcus Rashford against Southampton on the weekend, Amad became the youngest United player to create six chances in a single game since Anthony Martial in 2016.
Many are excited to see what the Ivorian can offer the team going forward as he finally gets a breakthrough season at Old Trafford.
United planning to offer Amad new deal
According to a new report from the Manchester Evening News, United are set to offer Amad a new long-term contract in the coming months.
The winger’s current deal expires in June 2025, but United have the option to extend it until the following summer.
The report adds that if an agreement isn’t reached before the new year, the club will activate that one-year extension to prevent Amad’s representatives from negotiating a pre-contract with an overseas club during the January transfer window.
Players can discuss potential free contract deals with foreign clubs in January if they enter the final six months of their deals, but United will not allow that to happen with the 22-year-old.
Amad addresses long-term career plans
United should have no concerns about Amad putting pen to paper on a new deal at Old Trafford in the coming months.
The Ivorian has recently spoken about the potential of spending his entire career at the club, where he is “very happy”.
“Yeah, why not?” Amad replied when asked if he intends to stay beyond his current deal.
“I’m very happy here. I think everyone is happy with me because I smile with everyone and have good energy. Why not stay here all my life?”
After a summer switch, Amad is now represented by Leaders Agency. They also represent close friend and teammate Alejandro Garnacho, who signed a long-term deal at United last year.
