Amad, De Ligt, Dalot: Manchester United injury news vs Bournemouth as duo verge on huge returns (Premier League)

Two Manchester United players are verging on a huge return to Rúben Amorim’s squad as they prepare to face Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United hit the road this weekend as Rúben Amorim’s side travel to face a Bournemouth team flying high under Andoni Iraola.

Amorim will be eager to set the record straight after United suffered a bruising 3-0 defeat to the Cherries at Old Trafford towards the end of 2024.

The Reds come into Sunday’s clash on the back of a 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers, where Pablo Sarabia’s superb late free-kick denied André Onana a clean sheet.

While league form remains patchy, United’s attention is increasingly turning to their Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao in early May, with a Champions League place and a potential £85 million financial boost up for grabs.

Amorim rules out Dalot for weeks

Earlier this week, it was noted that Diogo Dalot was not in United’s training sessions, and Amorim confirmed on Friday afternoon that the player had suffered an injury to his calf.

“Diogo is out,” explained Amorim at his press conference. “We don’t know long he is going to be out. But he is out for these games, we will see until the end.”

Dalot is joining Toby Collyer, Lisandro Martínez, and Joshua Zirkzee on the treatment table, with the latter two confirmed to miss the remainder of the season and little information available on Collyer.

However, the head coach also confirmed that both Amad and Matthijs de Ligt are close to returning to action, which will be a huge boost for Amorim once both players are back in the squad.

“Amad is near, Matta is near, but the rest is at the same pace,” the 40-year-old added. “Ayden [Heaven] is not ready, so I think that is it.”

Bournemouth’s latest injury news

As for the hosts, Bournemouth are looking to make history by completing their first-ever league double over Manchester United, as they continue their push for a maiden European adventure.

The Cherries will be without long-term absentees Enes Ünal and Ryan Christie, both still sidelined through injury.

Colombia international Luis Sinisterra is edging closer to a return but is not expected to be ready for the 14:00 BST kick-off.

Meanwhile, midfielder Lewis Cook is battling a minor injury concern, leaving his availability hanging in the balance.
