“Already planned…” – Fabrizio Romano delivers latest Man United update on 2025 transfer
Fabrizio Romano has delivered the latest Manchester United update on a potential 2025 transfer for Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United are preparing for a challenging winter schedule, with their first game after the international break coming against Ipswich Town.
Sitting 13th in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim’s immediate priority is to improve the team’s performances and close the four-point gap to the top four.
As crucial months approach in both league and cup competitions, Amorim is carefully evaluating the squad to determine his optimal starting lineup.
He will also likely be identifying areas of the squad which he wants improvements in January or after the 2024/25 season concludes.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds want to sign a new left-back for Amorim’s system in 2025, and it has already been planned within the club.
Amorim is set to introduce a 3-4-3 system which includes wingbacks and there is little trust that Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw can fulfil the physical nature of the role due to their injury issues.
Romano added that those at Old Trafford are already assessing their options and have more than three candidates on a list.
Former United defender Alvaro Fernandez has been linked with a return, while United are also reportedly tracking Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies.
The report concluded that it remains to be seen whether United move for a left-back in the January window or wait until the end of the season to sign a player in the summer, with it being ‘most likely’ they wait.
