Alejandro Garnacho’s full reaction to scoring ‘best ever’ overhead kick during Man Utd’s win vs Everton
Alejandro Garnacho provided a reaction to scoring one of the greatest Premier League goals of all time for Manchester United against Everton.
The United winger was on the end of a slightly wayward cross from Diogo Dalot only three minutes into the clash at Goodison Park.
Several steps backwards, a leap into the air. It was extremely ambitious from the academy graduate yet jaws dropped when the ball ended in the top right-hand corner of Jordan Pickford’s goal.
“I’ve never seen a goal like it… I can’t even comprehend how you do that,” said former United captain Gary Neville whilst on Sky Sports commentary duty. “I that that’s the best overhead kick I’ve ever seen.”
Second-half goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial helped United secure the three points and a special mention must be made for Kobbie Mainoo, who was excellent on his full Premier League debut.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Garnacho explained his own shock that he was able to produce such an unbelievable moment and agreed that it will be in the running for the goal of the season award.
“I cannot believe it,” he said. “To be honest I just turned around and thought ‘oh my god’. One of the best I have scored – I am happy.”
“Probably [it is a goal of the season contender]. It is still November, but yes.”
The talented Argentine was then asked about the moment in an interview with club media and the comparisons to Wayne Rooney’s iconic overhead kick against Manchester City.
“I’m very happy, an incredible goal,” he added. “I say it’s like the Rooney goal, I don’t know which is better but both are incredible goals.
“A very important win, three goals and a clean sheet so very important.”
